All hell is breaking loose in the edge-of-your-seat follow-up to Havoc and Perdition from New York Times bestselling author Ann AguirreÂ…
The prison ship Perdition has become a post-battle charnel house with only a handful of Dred’s soldiers still standing and now being hunted by Silence’s trained tongueless assassins. Forging an uneasy alliance with mercenary commander Vost—who is their only chance at escape—the Dread Queen will do whatever it takes to end her life sentence on Perdition and keep the survivors alive long enough to cobble together a transport capable of getting them off station.
If Dred and her crew can win the deadly game of cat and mouse, the payoff is not only life but freedom—a prize sweeter than their wildest dreams. Yet the sadistic Silence would rather destroy Perdition than let a single soul slip from her grasp…

Ann Aguirre has done it again!

Before I get into the review, I should mention that this is the series finale. There are two other books ahead of this one. The other two books in this series are below.

Perdition and Havoc, Dred Chronicles 1 and 2 also

I’ve been a huge fan of her Sirantha Jax books since I first discovered them. Aguirre has a superb skill for weaving science fiction and romance. She write characters that are deep and vulnerable. She writes about love that isn’t easy but is worth it anyway. Then she intertwines these incredible characters with mind blowing science fiction. Her books are without compare. The Dred Chronicles is based in the same universe as the Sirantha Jax books but in the future. However, there is absolutely no need to read the other series. The Dred Chronicles is completely stand alone.

Breakout is the epic conclusion of Ann Aguirre’s Dred Chronicles and the series goes out with a bang. This book is just as action packed and gritty as the other two in this series.   However, watching Jael and Dred’s relationship grow and solidify amongst the carnage was touching and beautiful. I love how two broken people can come together to form a whole.

Dred is the perfect heroine throughout the series. She’s tough and she’s had to be hard to survive. She is ready to make the difficult choice to save the people she loves. The best part of this book, for me, was the last third. It was almost an epilogue where we got to see where many people I’d been wondering about had ended up. This book was the perfect ending to a series that I loved.
