February was a disappointing #bookstagram month for me. I didn’t do very well. I have a lot going on in my life right now outside of the book world, but I hope to redeem myself in March. I don’t go to many author events. There’s a variety of reasons for it. I’m shy in groups, I don’t like crowds and I often don’t have anyone to go with me. It’s no fun to go alone. However, I’ve committed myself to go to three different author events in the next three weeks and I’m determined to enjoy them. If the first event is any indication, I’m in for an amazing 3 weeks. It might have even changed my mind about author events entirely. I ran into Elise out front and got a picture of her with her face. She was just excited about seeing the poster in the window as I was! Here is the set up! It looked so professional. I was lucky to grab a seat up front. There were tons of copies of The Alchemists of Loom too. The signing was amazing because Elise spent the entire time answering questions about both her series. I also got to see a glimpse of the cover of The Dragons of Nova. I will definitely be participating in the cover reveal, if I get the chance. My copy of The Prince’s Rogue was the first Elise has seen in person! She said she usually orders one for herself but she hadn’t gotten around to it yet. It was fun to watch because she hadn’t thought […]
We all have our auto-buy authors. Those authors that we buy no matter what they write and when. Patricia Briggs is definitely one of mine. I fell in love with Mercy Thompson years ago with the first book in the series, Moon Called. This series has high stakes and relate-able characters. It’s not easy to read or even easy to like sometimes but it keeps me coming back. I have to know what happens next to Mercy and Adam. This next one is no exception. It sounds like Mercy has gotten herself in real trouble, far away without her support system. I can’t wait to see what happens. Patricia Briggs will be in Houston as part of her release tour and I will be there! I’m waiting to buy this one until I’m there so I can have her sign it. It’s makes the wait longer, but it’s worth it!
The thing that really draws me to this book is the cover. I love the girl’s face on the cover. That grin!!! It’s just so joyous. I’ve never seen a cover that exudes so much happiness. Past the cover, the book sounds perfect. Enemies to loves is always my favorite trope. I love the idea that these two kids have been promised to each other in an arranged marriage. However, they don’t know it and they don’t even like each other! Can’t wait to read this one!

WE ARE BACK!! It’s been a long cold 9 weeks without a #BHPChat and we missed you! However, last night we returned for the start of a new year. Just like always, check out everyone who participated! Q1: Introduce yourself, your blog, and the first book you read in 2017! #BHPChat — Sarah K (@thebooktraveler) February 1, 2017 Q2: It’s a new year, so what are some goals you’ve set for yourself? (Reading, blogging, etc.) Request less books on NetGalley (I obviously have a problem) & try to find time to blog. The balance is getting harder 😭 #BHPChat https://t.co/2OtJ7tZEws — جاكلين (@JAtamanuk) February 1, 2017 A2: My goals for this year are to read more, blog more, come up with something original. #BHPchat — RI 🖤 (@Astaraya) February 1, 2017 My only goal is to just read as much as I can and finish the GOT series by the end of the year. #BHPChat oh and review more books 😂 https://t.co/vu1orXtVSr — Ʈris (Tris' Nook) (@Tris_Black2016) February 1, 2017 I'm trying to be more consistent this year with my posts and schedule them ahead of time. So far I'm doing a good job. #BHPChat https://t.co/dCmFL0RMwz — Ashley (@bookishrealm) February 1, 2017 A2: My health is the top of the list. Wanted to sketch & read than last year more but not to pressure myself. To try to blog […]
I have loved the movie Labyrinth since I was a small child so you can imagine that I see David Bowie the second you mention Goblin King. The cover, with it’s glass ball snowglobe also reminds of the balls that the Goblin King juggles in that movie. The colors look cold and the glass globe makes the rose look protected, yet trapped. Reading the description, I think the cover is perfect. I’m not sure that Wintersong has anything to do with Labyrinth. In fact, I think it’s more likely that it doesn’t. I’ve also heard that it’s a retelling based on the poem ,Der Erlkonig. I wasn’t familiar with the poem, so I looked it up. It’s haunting and beautiful, just like I expect this book to be. Really though, this book has a Goblin King. What else to you really need to know.
Once again I’m thrilled to report that I just participating in Bloggiesta, I’m co-hosting with MC at Blame it on the Books! She’s still my inspiration. This year we get to wrap up Bloggiesta with a celebratory trip! Next week we will be together in Atlanta for ALAMW! I can’t wait to see her. Bloggiesta is a challenge and a call to action. It is an opportunity and an excuse to improve your blog. You formulate a plan of blog chores and then you work to get the done over the course of a weekend. The other component is mini-challenges. Bloggers all over talk about different ways that they do things and then they issue a challenge. Past mini-challenges on time management, social media use and a variety of other topics are on the bloggiesta site. Mini Bloggiesta Goals Schedule WOW and TTT through the end of February Cross post review backlog (EW, GR, LT, Amazon) I know this is a short list, but it will be time intensive. I have a ridiculous review backlog to work through. Wish me luck!
I’ve never run or even really participated in a read a public read a long before. I’m really excited about this! We are going to have a #QWSush halfway through to discuss it. I really loved this book and this series. It sucks you in and gets better and better throughout the series. What is this Readalong? This is a month long readalong for The Island by S. Usher Evans, which is FREE. We’ll be reading 5 chapters a week (they aren’t that long really) in anticipation for the release of The Union, which is the trilogy finale, on February 14th. What’s this about teams? You absolutely do not have to participate in the teams but it’s highly encouraged! There are two teams, #TeamTheo and #TeamPrinceling based off of the two main characters in the books. I’m the team lead of #TeamTheo so I strongly encourage you to join that team. These two teams earn points by joining the readalong, tweeting, posting reviews and participating in other events we might have planned. The winning team will get some cool goodies and the top 2 point earners for each team will win an extra special prize! You can join either team, but I’m #TeamTheo, so, I’m definitely biased. The Thing I like best about this Street Team Contest is that every week has a different focus. This week we are focusing on joining […]
I’ve been waiting for this book for so long and the wait is almost over. Have you preordered yet? The preorder incentives are great. There’s a map, crayons and a string backapack. The real problem is deciding which book to preorder. There is the US one and then the UK version has 4 different covers, each is more beautiful than the last! Seriously, everything about this books sounds fantastic. There is a dark and mysterious game that is only played once a year and never in the same place. The game has a slightly sinister seeming leader who no one has ever met. The only reason that Scarlett chooses to play the game is to protect her sister, ‘Tella. Mystery, a dark game, a sinister leader and a strong sisterly bond. What else do you want?
