Review: Ever the Hunted by Erin Summerill

Review: Ever the Hunted by Erin Summerill

Ever the Hunted by Erin Summerill Series: Clash of Kingdoms #1 Published by Houghton Mifflin Harcourt on December 27th 2016 Genres: Fantasy, Young Adult Pages: 400 Format: Paperback Source: Free for Review, the publisher Buy on Amazon Goodreads I received this book for free from Free for Review, the publisher in exchange for an honest review. This does not affect my opinion of the book or the content of my review. The story is fun and engaging. I read it in a single sitting and just tore through it. Erin Summerill’s writing is easy to read and her characters make the story easy to connect to. I liked Britta and Cohen for their shared history. The supporting characters were some of my favorites. Captain Omar and Leif kept me guessing the whole book. I didn’t know whether to cry or cheer half the time. Enta was easy because who doesn’t love a grumpy old grandmother. She was probably my favorite. I loved the culture of Malam. For instance, the entire conflict stems from a cultural traditon. Britta is in mourning for her father and mourners are forbidden from leaving their house. Typically, the town brings the mourner food. However, Britta is an outcast. No one takes care of her in these terrible circumstances. If she wants to survive, she has to leave to find food. Otherwise, she will starve.  I liked this book […]

WoW: Ever the Hunted by Erin Summerill

WoW: Ever the Hunted by Erin Summerill

This is a meme hosted by Breaking the Spine! What I Love Uh? EVERYTHING! I don’t even know where to start. This synopsis has me waiting for a kickass bounty hunter heroine that has to choose between her childhood love and avenging her father’s death. There’s sure to be tough choices, moral ambiguity and a fantastic adventure. Even if the summary didn’t grab me, that cover is amazing. This book as one of my very favorite covers this year! The second I saw it, I wanted to read this book. Have you heard of this one? What do you think?

Awesome Indies: Love Connection by Camilla Isley

Awesome Indies: Love Connection by Camilla Isley

For more information, check out the Awesome Indies page How long did this book take you to write? I had to go back to the first Love Connection Word file and check the date to answer accurately. It is dated December 4, 2015. I finished with various rounds of self-editing in late June. Overall, it took seven months to write and another two to work with professional editors. Tell us about your book. Love Connection is a Romantic Comedy with two parallel story lines, Sliding Doors style. Gemma, my protagonist, is at the airport waiting for a connecting flight and she has to decide if she wants to crash her ex-boyfriend’s wedding or be made of honor for her best friend. The separation of plots takes place when a flight arrives on time as opposed to be delayed and Gemma meets someone at the airport who unknowingly changes her mind on what to do. I thought it would be fun to explore where two opposite decisions would bring Gemma in her life. What was your favorite part to write and why? The best part for me was to write each chapter in two ways, one for each of the two parallel universes. Each moment in the story is split in two, and I was so fascinated by how Gemma’s life, her emotions at certain stages of the story, could […]

Bloggiesta Fall 2016 Sign up

Bloggiesta Fall 2016 Sign up

For the first time, I am not only participating in Bloggiesta but I’m hosting it as well. MC at Blame it on the Books is a ROCK STAR and keeps me organized, no easy task. She’s a pleasure to work with and I would be absolutely nothing without her. I’ve said many times but the best thing to ever come out of Bloggiesta, for me, is our friendship. If you don’t know what this is, Bloggiesta is a challenge and an opportunity to improve your blog. You formulate a plan of blog chores and then you work to get the done over the course of a weekend. The other component is mini-challenges. Bloggers all over talk about different ways that they do things and then they issue a challenge. Past mini-challenges on time management, social media use and a variety of other topics are on the bloggiesta site. In the past during Bloggiesta, I’ve put together a huge and overwhelming to do list. I always have a list of things I want to do in the back of my mind and I write them ALL down on my bloggiesta goals. The end result is that my list way too long for me to finish in just four days and I end up feeling like a failure. I absolute intend to write a more manageable list this year. However, I say […]

Awesome Indies: Jungle Eyes by Lindsay Marie Miller

Awesome Indies: Jungle Eyes by Lindsay Marie Miller

For more information, check out the Awesome Indies page I’m so happy to welcome Lindsay Marie Miller back to Awesome Indies! You might remember her from her previous appearance promoting her book Emerald Green.  This book is a historical Romance, so a different genre. If that’s your thing, you should definitely check this out! What was your favorite chapter (or part) to write and why? The Epilogue. There is so much tension, emotion, and shock built into the ending of Jungle Eyes. While I was writing, I just couldnÂ’t wait to get to that cliffhanger, because I knew how much it was going to affect me, even as the author. ItÂ’s a twist unlike any other IÂ’ve ever had before, and I look forward to explaining it in the remaining novels of the trilogy. What were you like in school? Sometimes shy, sometimes loud. I could be bubbly and vivacious, outgoing even, but I was definitely the girl that always had her head in a book. I spent most of my time in the library. What was your favorite subject in school? English. My eighth and ninth grade teacher really had a love for fiction and a love of short stories. I think he was one of the first people to open my eyes to the magic of losing yourself in a fantasy and really giving up your mind to the words on the page. […]

The Island Releases today!

I’ve known about The Island for a while and I’m SO THRILLED that today is it’s release day! Now you can see Theo and Galian and fall in love with them and their witty banter.  Just like in my review, This book has it all! Prince Galian is third in line to the throne, but prefers his place as a resident at the Royal Kylaen Hospital. When his father urges him to join the military to help reclaim their colony, Galian is forced to put aside his oath to Do No Harm and fight a war he does not believe in. Across the great Madion Sea, Captain Theo Kallistrate dreams of a day when she is no longer bound by conscription to fight for her country’s independence. But when the Kylaens threaten, honor and duty call her to the front lines to fight off the oppressors. When an air skirmish goes wrong, both Theo and Galian crash on a remote island hundreds of miles from either nation. Grievously injured, Theo must rely on Galian’s medical expertise, and Galian must rely on Theo’s survival skills, to live another day in a harsh and unforgiving terrain. Can they put aside their differences long enough to survive? Or will the war that brought them to the island tear them apart? Buy The Island for eBook, Paperback, and Hardcover. Nefarious Tales Tour: Villians You Love to Hate

Nefarious Tales Tour: Villians You Love to Hate

Sometimes there are villains that are so cruel, so horrible, so evil that you simply have to hate them. These villains are so vile that hating them is fun! Let our your dark side today and revel in how much we all hate these characters. Lord Voldemort Of course Voldemort is first on this list. He has no nose! He tries to kill babies! There is no one more evil than him. King Joffrey Joffrey is the epitome of evil. He has no conscience. He only cares about himself. He’s cruel and uncaring and sadistic. Whether you read the book or watched the show, you cheered when he got what was coming to him. The Darkling This one is hard for me because I absolutely loved the Darkling in Shadow and Bone. However, there is a very thin line between love and hate. The Darking’s motivation isn’t want I wanted. his treatment of Alina and the rest of Ravka is deplorable. By the end of the series I hated who he became. Still, a big part of me still loves him. Who are the villains you love to hate? Follow the Nefarious Tales Tour Monday ( April 18th ) Wren @ Bookmato Chronicles – Ten reasons why all Victors want to be Victor Vale Holly @ The Fox’s Hideaway – Villains I’d join the dark side for Maha @ Younicorn Reads – Why villains actually […]
