I partnered with Warner Bros. to share this giveaway! I’m so lucky to be able to celebrate the release of the movie, Everything, Everything, coming out TOMORROW. It’s based off the hit book by Nicola Yoon with the same name. I reviewed it way back in my first weeks as a blogger! On May 19, risk everything…for love. #EverythingEverything From Warner Bros. Pictures and Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer Pictures comes the romantic drama “Everything, Everything,” directed by Stella Meghie and based on the bestselling book of the same name by Nicola Yoon. What if you couldn’t touch anything in the outside world? Never breathe in the fresh air, feel the sun warm your face…or kiss the boy next door? Everything, Everything tells the unlikely love story of Maddy, a smart, curious and imaginative 18-year-old who due to an illness cannot leave the protection of the hermetically sealed environment within her house, and Olly, the boy next door who won’t let that stop them. Maddy is desperate to experience the much more stimulating outside world, and the promise of her first romance. Gazing through windows and talking only through texts, she and Olly form a deep bond that leads them to risk everything to be together…even if it means losing everything. “Everything, Everything” stars Amandla Stenberg (“The Hunger Games”) as Maddy and Nick Robinson (“Jurassic World”) as Olly. The film also stars Ana […]
The synopsis AND the author have me chomping at the bit for this book. I loved Graudin’s Wolf by Wolf series which is an alternate history WWII story. Invictus includes time-traveling, plundering pirates, and a mysterious girl that has life-changing knowledge (anyone smell romance, because I do!) The synopsis mentions the Titanic and I’m interested to see how real history mixes with Graudin’s imagination again. Her writing is superb and her ideas are always original. This September release can’t come soon enough for me!
Bad Romance by Heather Demetrios Published by Henry Holt and Co. (BYR) on June 13th 2017 Genres: Contemporary, romance Pages: 368 Format: Paperback Source: the publisher Buy on Amazon Goodreads Grace wants out. Out of her house, where her stepfather wields fear like a weapon and her mother makes her scrub imaginary dirt off the floors. Out of her California town, too small to contain her big city dreams. Out of her life, and into the role of Parisian artist, New York director—anything but scared and alone. Enter Gavin: charming, talented, adored. Controlling. Dangerous. When Grace and Gavin fall in love, Grace is sure it’s too good to be true. She has no idea their relationship will become a prison she’s unable to escape. Deeply affecting and unflinchingly honest, this is a story about spiraling into darkness—and emerging into the light again. I received this book for free from the publisher in exchange for an honest review. This does not affect my opinion of the book or the content of my review.Emotional. Cringe-Inducing. Intense. Realistic. I’ve lived this book. Perhaps not to some of the extremes Gavin went to, but I’ve been the other half of a verbally abusive and emotionally manipulative relationship. After one daughter and four years of my life, all I can do is reflect and learn from that experience. This book was so uncomfortable at […]
Umberland by Wendy Spinale Series: Everland #2 Published by Scholastic Press on May 9th, 2017 Pages: 288 Source: the publisher Buy on Amazon Goodreads What began with a reimagining of Peter Pan and Wendy now twists into a stunning version of Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland and Through the Looking-Glass! Gwen, Pete, and the others have escaped from Everland. But the safe haven they hoped to find at Alnwick Castle doesn’t exist. With the Queen of England on her deathbed, Duchess Alyssa has stepped in to lead, but things have gotten worse as the cure Doc created for the Horologia virus has mutated, accelerating the disease. The only possible solution he can think of is to go back to the virus’s origin: an extinct poisonous apple. Legend has it a tree bearing the apple might be found at the center of a deadly labyrinth hidden deep within Germany. A place that no one in their right mind enters. Leaving Pete in charge of the survivors, Alyssa sets out with only her sword, her wits, and the help of Maddox Hadder, a wild boy who oversees the castle gardens. To get to the center of the maze, she’ll be forced to battle monsters more terrifying than her darkest nightmares. But can anyone truly survive the madness of the maze? And what if there’s no apple to be found there? I received […]
I won’t even lie, I read Roshani Chokshi’s blurb before the synopsis and was sold. She said, “Wicked Like a Wildfire was like devouring a succulent fairy fruit—it will rob your time, settle into your dreams, and leave you starving for more.” HOW COULD THAT NOT MAKE YOU WANT TO READ THIS?!?! The synopsis describes the twins as having magical abilities, which is awesome enough. But the really enticing part is the fact that they’re forbidden from falling in love. The family curse makes me think of A Million Junes which I absolutely loved. I have high hopes that this will be just as enchanting. While I’m dying for an arc, I may be thankful for not getting one in the long run because this is a duology and I have a feeling I’ll be desperate for the follow-up. Look out for this summer release!
Chapters scheduled for read along: 1-3 I’m celebrating the release of Elise Kova’s new book with a read along for The Alchemists of loom. I loved this book. It’s gritty and steampunky and literally everything I want from a fantasy. You can check out my review. I’m thrilled today to have a chance to interview Elise about this book. I hope you will enjoy hearing about her thought process when she wrote it as much as I did. We get to meet Ari in these chapters and she has a very interesting pastime. Have you ever stolen something? (even accidentally) Stolen something? Other than the hearts of men and women around the globe? (I AM TOTALLY KIDDING) One thing that I can remember… I made a friend at a martial arts studio I was going to in college and she was also into anime. She lent me her DVD of the live action adaptation of NANA and I held onto it forever because I was busy with school and just never got around to watching it. She ended up moving away and I found it in my drawer a few weeks later. I wasn’t able to get it back to her in time… The worst part? I still haven’t watched it! Ari never intended to become a thief. If you weren’t an author, what would you want to do? […]

I haven’t done a #Bookstagram Roundup for a few months. I’ve been finding it hard to do…. well, pretty much everything. However, I love #bookstagram because it’s easy to check out a few pictures in a spare moment and it doesn’t seem like taking a picture should take as much time as blogging. Of course, this is misleading cause you can spend hours setting up the perfect shot!
