How do you kill a god?

As her father's chosen heir, eighteen-year-old Rasmira has trained her whole life to become a warrior and lead her village. But when her coming-of-age trial is sabotaged and she fails the test, her father banishes her to the monster-filled wilderness with an impossible quest: to win back her honour, she must kill the oppressive god who claims tribute from the villages each year or die trying.

Interview

I read an article all about your love of Pirates and the journey that you went on to get Daughter of the Pirate King published. Was the publication journey of Warrior of the Wild similar or different than your last duology?

It was very different! Since I was already an established author, I didn’t have to write the whole book before attempting to sell it. I only had to write the first three chapters and a complete synopsis. The idea went to the same publisher that did Pirate King. By this point, I have a strong relationship with my editor and we get to work together on concept ideas and whatnot. I love that the process is more collaborative now and I have an advocate already in my publishing house!
I love YA but I also am a huge horror fan and I’ve read everything by Stephen King. What’s a genre or a type of book that we might be surprised that you love?

I love adult historical romance and a good adult paranormal romance. I actually have an idea for an adult paranormal romance that I might like to write someday! We’ll see…

Warrior of the Wild has 3 main characters. Rasmira, Iric and Soren. I felt closest to Iric because I can be a little bit of a stick in the mud and a worrywart. Who did you identify with the most and why?

Haha. Iric is my favorite. He was definitely the most fun to write! I definitely identify the most with Rasmira. There were so many times when I felt like I had to prove myself, times when I lacked the confidence to do things I knew I was good at, and times when I felt I had to have the acceptance of those around me in order to feel good about myself. Rasmira’s journey is loosely based on my own in high school/college.

Did you have a playlist on when you were writing Warrior of the Wild? What song was at the top of the list?

I actually don’t listen to music when I write! It distracts me.

Is there a scene or a quote from Warrior of the Wild that is your favorite? Please share it!

“A man who finds his masculinity threatened by a powerful woman is no man at all. You want someone who lifts you up, not tries to bring you down.” —Soren

The City of Veils by S. Usher Evans Series: Princess Vigilante, #1 Published by Sun’s Golden Ray Publishing on April 16, 2019 Genres: Fantasy, Young Adult Pages: 374 Format: Paperback Buy on Amazon Goodreads For the past three years, Brynna has been patrolling the streets of Forcadel as a masked vigilante, protecting the innocent and beating up bad guys. Her current target is Lord Beswick, a slumlord businessman who keeps the townsfolk in a vicious poverty cycle. But one fateful evening, she’s captured by Felix, the captain of the king’s guard, and told a shocking truth: her father and brother are dead, and she needs to hang up her mask and become queen. Before long, she negotiates a deal with Felix: attend to her royal duties during the day and continue her vigilante mission to take out Lord Beswick at night—at least until her coronation. But the politics of Forcadel are as volatile as the streets, and Brynna isn’t sure whom she can trust in the castle. With two royals dead in less than a month, she must use all her wits to make sure she isn’t the third. This book was such a wild ride. I love books that surprise me, and this one was no different. Brynna was such a single minded character. She was absolutely blinded by her resolve for justice. She couldn’t see anything else […]

Glass and Ashes by OWS Ink, LLC

Glass and Ashes by OWS Ink, LLC

Character spotlight Prince Charming by Rebekah Jonesy While everyone agrees that the prince of their little kingdom lives up to his name, they also agree that it’s a good thing he wasn’t named Prince Wise. Sweet and loveable as a puppy, he’s also about as smart as one. Not the smart kind either. The kind that barks at his own tail and gets beat up by his own toys. That kind of puppy. Why else would a man fall in love with a woman after a few hours? He was told by his father to find a rich young maiden to marry and woo her. But the poor guy just isn’t that smart. He let a pretty face and a fancy gown distract him. Having never been around anyone that wasn’t rich he had no clue how to judge such things. And when she left so abruptly that convinced him that she had to be the one for him. And led him, unwisely, to declare that he would marry the woman that fit the shoe she had left behind. Because not only is he not smart, he’s also really bad at names. And women’s fashion. And thinking things through. All of his shoes were tailor made and he was the only one that could wear them. So it only made sense in his empty head that the same would […]
