ARC Review: Summer of Sloan

Summer of Sloane by Erin L. Schneider Published by Disney-Hyperion on May 3rd 2016 Genres: Contemporary, romance Pages: 304 Format: Paperback Source: Free for Review Buy on Amazon Warm Hawaiian sun. Lazy beach days. Flirty texts with her boyfriend back in Seattle. These are the things seventeen-year-old Sloane McIntyre pictured when she imagined the summer sheÂ’d be spending at her momÂ’s home in Hawaii with her twin brother, Penn. Instead, after learning an unthinkable secret about her boyfriend, Tyler, and best friend, Mick, all she has is a fractured hand and a completely shattered heart. Once she arrives in Honolulu, though, Sloane hopes that Hawaii might just be the escape she needs. With beach bonfires, old friends, exotic food, and the wonders of a waterproof cast, thereÂ’s no reason Sloane shouldnÂ’t enjoy her summer. And when she meets Finn McAllister, the handsome son of a hotel magnate who doesnÂ’t always play by the rules, she knows heÂ’s the perfect distraction from everything thatÂ’s so wrong back home. But it turns out a measly ocean isnÂ’t nearly enough to stop all the emails, texts, and voicemails from her ex-boyfriend and ex-best friend, desperate to explain away their betrayal. And as her casual connection with Finn grows deeper, SloaneÂ’s carefree summer might not be as easy to find as sheÂ’d hoped. Weighing years of history with Mick and Tyler against their […]

Awesome Indies: Scarred by Joanne MacGregor

Awesome Indies: Scarred by Joanne MacGregor

For more information, check out the Awesome Indies page 1.What inspires you? What fills my tank of energy and well-being is having some alone-time (I’m an introvert), reading and being in nature. My inspiration for stories comes from anywhere and everywhere – something interesting I see on TV or hear on the radio, an overheard tidbit of conversation, an intriguing news item or a stray thought that just pops into my head. The inspiration for Scarred came to me in the wee hours of the night when I was lying, jet-lagged and wide awake, in a Bed & Breakfast in England. An image of a scarred girl standing in front of a class of kids, where the cute guy is staring back at her with hatred, just appeared in my mind’s eye. I knew that she thought he was repelled by her scar, but that he had a different reason, though what it was, I didn’t yet know. My stories begin their life when I start combining ideas and situation, and then ask the magic words, “What if…?” As a writer, I find I need both types of inspiration. I can’t write if I’m feeling exhausted, depleted or burnt out, and I obviously can’t imagine a story without the kernel of an idea. 2. How do you develop your plots and characters? I spend some time just allowing the ideas […]

I’ve read and enjoyed horror, sci fi, fantasy, mystery, thriller, romance, even erotica. There is one genre that I call my guilty pleasure. This genre I love and I read pretty much every book I’ve ever seen in this genre. I just don’t talk about it much because it’s a little silly. Cowboy Romances. […]
