About the Author

A tireless champion of the power of books and reading, Patterson created a children’s book imprint, JIMMY Patterson, whose mission is simple: “We want every kid who finishes a JIMMY Book to say, ‘PLEASE GIVE ME ANOTHER BOOK.’” He has donated more than one million books to students and soldiers and funds over four hundred Teacher Education Scholarships at twenty-four colleges and universities. He has also donated millions of dollars to independent bookstores and school libraries. Patterson invests proceeds from the sales of JIMMY Patterson Books in pro-reading initiatives.
Presented by James Patterson's new children's imprint, this deliciously creepy horror novel has a storyline inspired by the Ripper murders and an unexpected, blood-chilling conclusion...
Seventeen-year-old Audrey Rose Wadsworth was born a lord's daughter, with a life of wealth and privilege stretched out before her. But between the social teas and silk dress fittings, she leads a forbidden secret life.
Against her stern father's wishes and society's expectations, Audrey often slips away to her uncle's laboratory to study the gruesome practice of forensic medicine. When her work on a string of savagely killed corpses drags Audrey into the investigation of a serial murderer, her search for answers brings her close to her own sheltered world.
The story's shocking twists and turns, augmented with real, sinister period photos, will make this dazzling debut from author Kerri Maniscalco impossible to forget.
This is a picture of me while reading Stalking Jack the Ripper.
OK, maybe not really. However I think it accurately represents my excitement while reading it. I loved the story. Audrey Rose is my new hero. She defies her father, society and her culture to follow her dreams. She dissects bodies and solves mysteries and wears pretty dresses. She doesn’t pick the easiest route but she sticks to what she wants and she works hard for it. I admired her persistence, I related to her struggles, I want to be her when I grow up.
I can’t review Stalking Jack the Ripper without mentioning how much I loved the relationship between Audrey Rose and Thomas. They had my absolute favorite type of chemistry, arguing! Thomas annoyed Audrey Rose and she griped and groused at him and it was obvious to everyone how they were perfect for each other. I want to read about them sniping at each other forever.
Seriously, whenever you find a book where the love interests are arguing with each other, I want you to immediately think of me. That’s a book I want to read. Bonus points for sarcasm!
After what seems like an entire month of lackluster reads and books I couldn’t be bothered to review, I wish I could read Stalking Jack the Ripper again for the first time. Luckily, @KerriManiscalco posted this tiny little snippet on twitter a few days ago. I’m already itching for the sequel. This doesn’t help…. but it kind of does.
Kerri Maniscalco grew up in a semi-haunted house outside NYC where her fascination with gothic settings began. In her spare time she reads everything she can get her hands on, cooks all kinds of food with her family and friends, and drinks entirely too much tea while discussing life’s finer points with her cats. Stalking Jack the Ripper is her debut novel. It incorporates her love of forensic science and unsolved history, and is the first in a new series of gothic thrillers.
It will be available everywhere September 20, 2016.
