Best friends Jackie and Tyler set out on an adventure to find somewhere to call home, hoping to escape the violent city life and settle down in a quiet place where they can make something of themselves. What they find instead is the notorious Red Kings Motorcycle Club, outlaw bikers that rule the city's criminal underground.
Only able to avoid them for so long, the unsuspecting pair get thrown into turf wars and drug trafficking before they can even figure out what's happened. And as Tyler is dragged deeper into the club's illegal activity, Jackie remains stuck in limbo as she tries to resist the pull of one Dean Rockwell, the MC's most dangerous member.
Torn between the tight-knit family of bikers and the safety of a normal life, can Jackie navigate the treacherous new waters without losing herself and her best friend? Or will a series of unfortunate events lead her down a path that she can't come back from?

Tell us about your book.
Strays is about two best friends that get wrapped up in the crime and danger of the Red Kings MC. Tyler is excited by the idea of having a place he can finally use his computer savvy skills, but Jackie is a little less accepting of his new friends. This first novel is their initial journey into the biker world and the consequences they end up facing because of it.
If this book is part of a series, tell us a little about it?
Strays is book one in The Red Kings Series, which is currently planned to be three books, but could be more. The series will follow Jackie, Tyler and multiple charters of the MC as they deal with their illegal businesses and rival gangs. The series is also first and foremost a romance, so there’s plenty of that along with other family dynamics amongst the club. I don’t want to spoil book one for anybody, but the ending makes it pretty obvious that there will be more to come.
What was the hardest part of writing this book?
The hardest part was having so many characters. I knew I wanted to introduce more than one charter to give the book a more widespread feel and also for plot reasons that I don’t want to spoil. But it was extremely difficult to come up with so many characters that were very similar at their core while still keeping them different enough for the readers to tell apart. And naturally I had a few characters quickly become my favorites, so I had to remember to include the others in on the action sometimes.
What was your favorite chapter (or part) to write and why?
I have a lot of favorites, but I think chapter 18 is at the top. I really enjoy the Jackie/Jagger dynamic, and their talk in that chapter not only strengthens their bond, but also sheds some light on Dean and the bikers in general as people. It ended up being a really cool scene that humanized some of the more gruesome things that the bikers do.
Can you share a little of your current work with us?
I’m currently working on book two of the series. It’s definitely a lot darker than the first one. We’ll get to see more of the criminal element in this next book, with the Feds coming in to take an interest in the Macon charter while Lakeside gets into a territory war with a rival gang. Dean and Jackie will also be struggling with some new developments as they try to keep their relationship going. It’s going to be good, I’m excited.
What actors/actresses would you cast in your book’s movie?
Because there are so many characters in this book, the first thing I did was pick the entire cast. I wanted to have a visual reference for every character so that I kept them consistent while I was writing. I have the whole cast up on my Tumblr page, but the main cast would definitely be Jason Momoa as Dean and Emmy Rossum as Jackie. Dean I picked right away because Jason has that hulking, angry look to him while still being a good guy. Jackie was a lot harder because I needed a sweet nurturer that could also hold her own with the boys. And then I watched Shameless and saw Emmy Rossum and that was Jackie.
How much research do you do?
Quite a bit. I wasn’t super familiar with the inner workings of an MC and I wanted to stay at least somewhat true to life. Obviously some of it is romanticized as it is with most MC romances. I read a book by Hunter S. Thompson about the real life Hell’s Angels MC and it was incredibly eye-opening, not at all the kind of MC we write about in fiction. But I at least wanted to keep the same sort of familial bond and closeness that he wrote about the bikers having and the same element of danger. I’d like to think my take on the MC is at least a few steps above the standard cheesy MC romance level.
Do you have a set writing schedule that you adhere to? / Tell us how you write
Have a schedule, yes. Adhere to it, definitely not. I love having a plan and I’d love to be able to stick to it, but I never do. The inspiration to write is so fluid. Sometimes I can sit and write a few thousand words, no problem. And then sometimes I can sit and stare at the computer for an hour and write twenty words. I just end up having to go with the flow most of the time and take advantage of the mood when it hits.
Who is your favorite author and what is it that really strikes you about their work?
He’s not necessarily my favorite author, but Don Winslow has such a unique writing style and I love it. Savages isn’t a literary masterpiece by any means, but the style is so interesting and makes the book jarring. Definitely one of my favorite books and one of the more memorable authors I’ve read in awhile.
How can readers discover more about you and you work?
I don’t have a real website just yet, it is on my to do list. But I have several social media sites where everyone can get more information on the published book and updates on the next one.
